Tenuta Guado al Tasso, a winery in Bolgheri, was founded in the 17th century by the noble family della Gherardesca. The estate, located in the amphitheatre of Bolgheri, has over a thousand hectares of land and is known for its high number of vines, including Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Vermentino grapes. In 1930, the property was inherited by Carlotta Della Gherardesca Antinori and her sister, who married Mario Incisa Della Rocchetta. The Antinori family's investments have allowed the vineyards and cellars to meet high demands, and Piero Antinori, a brilliant and prudent entrepreneur, has significantly strengthened the reputation of the Denomination Bolgheri branch. The house uses new wooden barrels for maturation, and the Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Guado al Tasso is the showpiece of the house's range. The estate produces around 800,000 bottles a year, including the Matarocchio, Guado al Tasso, and Bolgheri Rosso Bruciato.
